Less dependent with our own means of production
Aside from Hitachi Power Europe there are, of course, other plant constructors with experience in the planning, design and placing into service of power plants. But, in contrast to many other companies, we have our own manufacturing facilities for the principal components such as pressure parts, headers, coal mills, conveying equipment and boiler steel. This considerably reduces our dependence on sub-contractors.
These system parts are produced at our subsidiaries of Donges SteelTec GmbH, Meeraner Dampfkesselbau GmbH and Babcock Fertigungszentrum GmbH. It is particularly in power plant construction that maximum quality is demanded. After all, components are subject to highs loads and stresses and have to display reliability under continuous operations over many years. That is why our subsidiaries in manufacturing set down special priorities in quality control. The constant refinement of high-tech materials – for instance, with special-purpose alloys for pressure parts – allows components to be used in a more efficient and environmentally compatible manner. Here as well, Hitachi Power Europe specialists work hand in hand with their colleagues in the production facilities.
